League of American Bicyclists Instructor Certification Seminar

The mission of League of American Bicyclists’ education program to help people feel more secure about getting on their bikes, to create a mindset that bikes are treated as a vehicle, and to ensure that cyclists know how to ride a bike and how to operate it safely and legally.

We all who lead rides within a club, school, store or organization to become a League Certified Instructor. Beside the great knowledge the seminar provides, as a member of the League an LCI may get insurance at affordable rates.

Seminar dates are September 29 - Oct.1, 2017.
Registration deadline is September 8, 2017.

Upon receipt of paid registration, the League Education staff will send the registrants access to the seminar materials electronically using Google Documents.

Each registrant will use these materials to complete the exam and send the results to the Coach to arrive no later than 14 days (9 - 8 - 17) before the seminar start date.

The Coach will grade the exam (a passing score is 85% but a Coach has the option of asking for additional review if the score is less than 85%) and use the results along with bio information from the application form to determine the applicant’s readiness to attend the seminar. The Coach will contact an applicant by phone or email to supply feedback and/or obtain further information.

It is the Coach’s responsibility to make the final assessment and determination of applicant’s qualification before the start of the seminar.

LCI Candidate Information

Completion of a Traffic Skills 101 course is a prerequisite for attending a seminar. You can complete the entire TS 101 class with an LCI or complete the in - classroom portion at http://bikeed.org/ completion of on - bike skills portion of the class with an LCI in order to meet the full requirement.

On road cycling and parking lot skills demonstrations are required. All candidates must have their own bike in good working order, tools, helmets, lights and accessories needed for maintaining their bike. The seminar will require night and daylight group bicycling.
