Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation Grants Improving Cycling in Our Communities.

Kickstand Bicycle Cooperative in Knoxville used a JRCF grant to help purchase two of these heavy duty outdoor tire pumps. The tire pumps are being placed next to repair stands previously installed around the city.

The Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the Community Challenge Grant Awards for the 2020 funding cycle. Each year proposals are solicited state-wide from local bicycle clubs and community bicycle programs to fund projects that promote bicycling as a safe and health form of recreation and transportation. This year Grant Awards totaling $13,746 were awarded to the following organizations:

1. Bike Walk Cleveland TN, “to support a Bike Maintenance Camp and safety classes for youth and adult riders”.

2. City of Dunlap TN, “to support the establishment of a free bike-share Bike Library program for youth riders.

3. Friends of Hiwassee/Ocoee State Park, Delano TN, “to support and install a bicycle repair station at the visitor center.

4. Friends of Old Stone Fort State Park, Manchester TN, “to support a bicycle rodeo & safety education community outreach activity for youth and adult riders”.

5. Greeneville Hiking and Bicycling Club, Greeneville TN, “to support a bicycle rodeo & safety education community outreach activity for youth and adult riders”.

6. SORBA-TriCities, Johnson City TN, “to support and install a bicycle repair station at the trailhead of the Hampton Watershed Trails expansion”.

7. Hancock County Health Department, Sneedville TN, “to support a bicycle rodeo & afety education for youth riders and their families”.

8. Jere Whitson Freedom School, Cookeville TN, “to support bicycle safety education and basic maintenance skill development” as a cultural enrichment for youth from low-income households”.

9. John Sevier Elementary School, Maryville TN, “to support bicycle safety education programing as in-school-and after-school activities”.

10. Bike-Walk Knoxville TN, “to support the youth bicycle education program Kids Love Bikes”.

11. Mountain Goat Alliance, Sewanee TN, “to support and install a bicycle repair station at the trailhead of the Mountain Goat Trail near Sewanee TN”.
 
12. Oasis Center, Nashville TN, “to support the Bike Workshop and Earn a Bike” program for youth riders from low-income/disadvantaged households”.

13. Highland Rim Bicycle Club, Tullahoma TN, “to support the Tullahoma Re-Cycle program to re-furbish bicycles for distribution and teach safe cycling to youth riders”.

14. Walk-Bike Nashville TN, “to support the installation of bicycle racks and facilitate the Safe Routes to School program for school-aged children in low income neighborhoods.”


The Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation’s Community Challenge Grant Program is funded by proceeds from the Tennessee Share the Road license plate and supports the Foundation’s mission to promote bicycling as a safe and healthy form of recreation and transportation.
